Social Sharing: From Lightweight to AddThis

I am a big believe in lean, lightweight websites. That is why I have always used lean social share buttons that consist of a small social media icon image and a share link. Click the image, share in new tab.

It’s a very simple method for adding social sharing on your website. It is lean and lightweight. Perfect for speed.

One problem though. There is a massive void of quantitative and qualitative data to sift through.

Back to AddThis

That’s why earlier this week I have made the transition back to the old faithful, AddThis.

So far it has been good to see simplified social sharing analytics data rather than a hodge podge of click event tracking on Google Analytics.

It’s slightly more weighty than the previous buttons but the pros definitely outweigh the negative here.
