Tsohost Review: Why have I been using Tsohost for over 10 years?

I first wrote this Tsohost review in 2013. I’ve been using Tsohost since 2011 when I switched over from Godaddy. I’ve now been a Tsohost customer for over 10 years and its testament to their hosting and customer service that I am sticking with their services.

Through my WordPress design, development and optimisation company Codesauce I have hosted over 100 websites as well as registering over 200 domains with Tsohost. In that time I have got to know the products pretty well and bothered Tsohost support more than my fair share.

Tsohost is already an affordable web hosting and domain registration company in the UK. To make sure you get the maximum savings always buy hosting for at least 1 year and use the new discount code TSOHOST2021 for 2022 to get an extra 10% off your Tsohost web hosting.

Tsohost Review

I’ve written this Tsohost review for new customers who are starting from scratch or transferring their website to Tsohost. Tsohost is one of those rare companies that bring a personal touch to web hosting. Founded in 2003, Tsohost is a UK-based company that prides itself on outstanding support and excellent customer service.

Having a look around the Tsohost website is a pleasure, not least because it’s uncommon to find this level of transparency with any internet-based business these days. All of the team at this company are listed individually, with a short bio and photo, and full contact details can also be easily found on the site.

Tsohost are a web hosting company that offer cloud hosting, domain name registration, and server solutions. Not only are the hosting and cloud services that the company offers robust, and they also come with 24/7 support, 365 days a year, as well as competitive pricing.

With the infrastructure based in a data centre just outside the capital, it connects to the Tsohost offices in London Docklands via an impressive 10 Gigabit connection. The close proximity of the offices to the data means that Tsohost can quickly deploy technical staff in the event of network failures.

This contrasts with many data centres, which can be in a completely different country than the main office. The UK-based data centre also provides peace of mind that the services offered to customers are fully compliant with UK data laws and security requirements.

My experience of Tsohost over the last 10 years has been stellar. The support team are amazing and over the years I’ve been on the phone, been on live chat, and raised probably about 150 support tickets. Being a UK company is important to me and knowing that I have support on hand has helped as I got to grip of hosting in the early days of building websites. Human support when you need it is something that many overlook when buying hosting or getting a domain registered but when things go wrong, and they sometimes do, then it’s great knowing there is something there to lend a hand.

Tsohost Cloud Web Hosting

The concept of the cloud is something that’s been a major technology buzzword since 2010. Cloud hosting allows virtual servers to be used so that customers can be allocated web resources automatically, as they essentially have their own virtual server.

Traditional shared hosting solutions tend to offer unlimited resources, but often, this is a promise that can’t be kept and businesses find their website suspended due to an overuse of resources, such as CPU usage and disk space.

For many business users, this can be a very costly inconvenience, but with cloud web hosting this is avoided as more resources can be allocated, allowing sites to be displayed and navigated very quickly.

Tsohost’s cloud web hosting plans:

Economy starts from £3.99+VAT/month. It’s for 1 website and includes 100GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, 512MB memory, 1 free domain name, and 1 free website migration.

Deluxe starts from £5.99+VAT/month. It’s for 5 websites and includes unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, 512MB memory, 1 free domain name, and 3 free website migrations.

Ultimate starts from £8.99+VAT/month. It’s for 10 websites and includes unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, 1GB memory, 1 free domain name, and 3 free website migrations and 2 eCommerce migrations.

Maximum starts from £14.99+VAT/month. It’s for 200 websites and includes unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, 2GB memory, 1 free domain name, and 3 free website migrations.

For very small WordPress websites (and small non-WordPress websites), I’d recommend Tsohost’s Cloud Hosting. Sign up for the Ultimate plan even if you have just 1 website as the 1GB of memory is important to help keep your website keeps running even under pressure. Get 10% off when you use code TSOHOST2021.

Tsohost Virtual Private Servers

The company offer Virtual Private Servers (VPS) for mission-critical websites under a variety of price plans. VPS uses high-end hardware, coupled with virtualisation software based in a data centre.

Without getting really technical, VPS run on powerful physical server clusters and give the fastest delivery and uptime. These can be used to deliver applications to businesses via the web and like all virtual computing models, offer significant cost savings, especially to the small business.

Tsohost’s Linux VPS plans:

Regular VPS starts at £36.66+VAT/month, which includes 2x Xeon Core CPUs, 1GB DDR4 Ram, 20GB SSD Storage, 400GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Large VPS starts at £64.16 +VAT/month, which includes 2x Xeon Core CPUs, 1.5GB DDR4 Ram, 40GB SSD Storage, 800GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Super Size VPS starts at £91.66 +VAT/month, which includes 4x Xeon Core CPUs, 3GB DDR4 Ram, 80GB SSD Storage, 1600GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Super Size+ VPS starts at £146.66 +VAT/month, which includes 6x Xeon Core CPUs, 5GB DDR4 Ram, 120GB SSD Storage, 3000GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Tsohost’s Windows VPS prices:

Regular VPS starts at £64.16+VAT/month, which includes Windows Server 2016 OS, 2x Xeon Core CPUs, 1.5GB DDR4 Ram, 40GB SSD Storage, 800GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Super Size VPS starts at £91.66+VAT/month, which includes Windows Server 2016 OS, 4x Xeon Core CPUs, 3GB DDR4 Ram, 80GB SSD Storage, 1600GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Super Size+ VPS starts at £146.66+VAT/month, which includes Windows Server 2016 OS, 6x Xeon Core CPUs, 5GB DDR4 Ram, 120GB SSD Storage, 3000GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

Powerhouse VPS starts at £192.49+VAT/month, which includes Windows Server 2016 OS, 8x Xeon Core CPUs, 8GB DDR4 Ram, 160GB SSD Storage, 6000GB Bandwidth, 3 free website migrations and 1 free eCommerce migration with a 99.9% Uptime SLA.

For larger WordPress websites (and larger non-WordPress websites), I’d recommend at least Tsohost’s Large Linux VPS or Tsohost’s Large Window’s VPS. Making sure you have at least 1GB of memory and 2 cores CPU is important to help keep your website up even when under pressure. Get 10% off when you use code TSOHOST2021.

Tsohost Domain Names

The last service I’ll cover in this Tsohost review is Tsohost’s domain name registration services. I have registered over 200 domain names with Tsohost in my time and the price and service is both affordable and straightforward.

Tsohost domain name prices:

.co.uk domains – £4.95 for 1 year

.org.uk domains – £4.95 for 1 year

.com domains – £7.95 for 1 year

If you’re looking for a domain name then I would recommend finding something simple and easy to remember. I’d recommend not using hyphens or numbers. I’d recommend getting both the .co.uk and .com domains.

Tsohost Review, TLDR

If, like me, you skip to the end of reviews, like this Tsohost review, then I wanted to sum up why I have been with them for the past 10 years.

1) Tsohost have amazing support. They have always been there to lend a hand, fix any issues, and answer any questions. I tend to use support tickets but knowing I can pick up the phone or go on live chat for urgent issues is important.

2) They are UK based. Having web hosting that is based in the UK is an important factor if your customers are also based in the UK. Hosting based in the same country means that there is a lower latency between the server and the end user. This means faster websites, better user experience, and more sales if you’re running a business.

3) Good selection of plans at affordable prices. Whether you have a tiny website or a bustling WooCommerce WordPress website then you will find the plan to suit you at Tsohost. Above I have recommended an option for each size of website depending on the services listed at Tsohost.

Tsohost is already an affordable web hosting and domain registration company in the UK. To make sure you get the maximum savings always buy hosting for at least 1 year and use the new discount code TSOHOST2021 for 2022 to get an extra 10% off your Tsohost web hosting.
